Job summary

ATANE Engineers, P.C. is seeking a Full-Time Chief Inspector to join our team in Wethersfield, Connecticut.

This leadership role focuses on inspection oversight for highway, bridge, rail, or facility projects, guiding field operations and ensuring contract compliance. The Chief Inspector will manage documentation, mentor field staff, coordinate with contractors and agencies, and help deliver projects on schedule.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of broad construction experience.
• Minimum 4 years of hands-on field inspection work.
• At least 2 years in a supervisory or lead inspector capacity.
• PE (Professional Engineer) or CCM (Certified Construction Manager) or a valid MEP-related Trade License is required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage daily inspection activities across ongoing construction sites.
• Verify contractor work adheres to project specifications, safety standards, and industry best practices.
• Prepare clear and detailed technical reports, field notes, and recommendations.
• Work closely with contractors, consultants, subconsultants, and public agencies to resolve issues and keep projects moving forward.
• Maintain organized, accurate project records, including inspection logs, progress documentation, and change-related items.
• Lead, mentor, and evaluate field inspection staff to promote quality and consistency across operations.
• Participate in project meetings and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to support on-schedule project completion
