Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson seeks a principal inspector to supervise construction inspection projects, coordinating field activities, reviewing plans, and ensuring compliance with specifications and safety programs.

Work is onsite; compensation ranges from $41.00 to $55.00 per hour, with a comprehensive benefits package including paid leave, holidays, health/dental/vision insurance, a strong 401(k) plan, and education reimbursement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong computer proficiency.
• 8+ years of construction inspection experience.
• Client requested certifications.
• Knowledge of construction techniques, reading plans, procedures, methods and materials.
• Supervisory experience in construction management/inspection situations.
• Active driver's license; must pass JMT motor vehicle screening.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance with plans and standards.
• Assign, schedule and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout all phases of the project.
• Draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction related field issues.
• Review and maintain project documentation; ensure progress, environmental permits, safety, and DBE/EEO reporting.
• Prepare, review and submit project inspection reports, work authorizations, work orders and estimates.
• Notify contractor of non-compliance and corrective action.
• Review, analyze and evaluate contractor schedules.
• Track project progress and advise parties of overruns and critical issues.
• Attend pre-bid, pre-construction and management meetings; assist client with change orders.
• Interact with the public, government agencies, contractors, and other parties to respond to inquiries.
• Lead and manage team members with coaching and performance management.
