Job summary

United Steel, New England's largest fabricator and erector of structural steel and miscellaneous metals, seeks a Field Foreman for misc. metals field operations.

You will lead skilled crews, read and implement blueprints, and coordinate with foremen to ensure safe, efficient erection of structural components on jobsites. Responsibilities include supervising lifting operations, ensuring QA/QC, enforcing safety, and training team members.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or 1–5+ years related experience or training.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; willingness to travel to jobsites.
• 5+ years of experience as Foreman or Lead in structural erection works.
• Direct supervision responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, training, and evaluating employees.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and shop papers; basic math and shop paperwork literacy.

Responsibilities

• Lead and control skilled labor and work crews on erection works.
• Optimize resources (manpower, equipment, materials) for timely completion.
• Read method statements and follow procedures; ensure compliance with QA/QC and safety rules.
• Supervise crews to erect girders, columns, and structural steel; verify alignment.
• Communicate instructions clearly; coordinate with other foremen for optimal workflow.
