Job summary

MWH is currently seeking a Senior Resident Engineer to support critical infrastructure construction work in Sacramento, CA.

The Senior Resident Engineer will oversee the appointed project field inspection staff and support service consultants to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with the project plans and specifications, as well as requirements of the contract and the expectations of the client.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in engineering, construction management, or related field.
• Minimum 10+ years’ experience in inspection, construction, or operations.
• Experience on municipal water and/or wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Thorough knowledge of construction methods, union jurisdictions, and negotiations.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with data management software.

Responsibilities

• Attend all construction meetings in support of the Construction Manager.
• Organize and chair weekly progress meetings.
• Review plans, specifications, and shop drawings to identify and resolve issues with the contractor.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reporting for the Construction Manager.
• Monitor and control to ensure project is built on schedule and within budget.
• Evaluate contractor’s cost proposals and develop preliminary cost estimates.
• Provide daily review of project documentation (inspections, daily reports, photos, deliveries).
• Ensure accurate field records (daily reports, test reports, as-built drawings).
• Prepare trend reporting for issues impacting progress or change management.
• Identify potential items of risk or claims arising from contractor activities.
• Serve as primary interface with the community where the project is constructed.
• Assist Construction Manager in safety program implementation.
• Attend local industry networking events.
