Farnsworth Group is seeking a Construction Resident Engineer to oversee field activities on highway projects in multiple Illinois locations, including Tinley Park. You will lead the field staff, manage contracts, review schedules, and ensure safety and quality on mid-to-large projects.

The role requires a PE license, a Civil Engineering degree, and 6+ years of transportation inspection experience. The firm supports a hybrid work program and offers comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• 6+ years of resident engineering experience for transportation projects.
• 10 HR OSHA, IDOT HMA and Concrete Level 1, and IDOT Aggregates certifications.
• Partnering approach to construction management and strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise construction inspection team.
• Plan, prepare, and analyze construction documents.
• Manage contracts utilizing CMMS software.
• Prepare inspector daily reports for progress payments.
• Review contractor schedules, traffic control plans, and submittals for compliance.
• Meet with contractors to discuss work plan and schedule.
• Oversee contract administration and supervise staff.
• Monitor compliance with schedule, budget, specs, and laws.
• Conduct progress meetings and status reports.
• Promote safety policies and procedures.
