Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Staff Field Engineer to join a skilled team across multiple U.S. sites, including Manhattan Beach, EAFB, Palmdale or Oklahoma City.

You will lead an integrated product team, diagnose aerospace system issues, and mentor technicians in field and development settings. Ideal candidates hold a STEM degree with extensive field experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to coordinate with government customers and program leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 12+ years of related engineering experience; or Master’s with 10+ years; or PhD with 8+ years.
• Experience with aviation systems and subsystems.
• Proficiency in reading and following technical manuals/repair manuals.
• Ability to coordinate with design engineers and aerospace specialties while learning new repair procedures.
• Prior field engineer, mission or maintenance engineering support.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and resolve engineering-related production problems (manufacturing, design, quality, materials).
• Analyze specifications and drawings; confer with engineers, quality, material, manufacturing and subcontractors for technical information.
• Investigate reports of defective, damaged, or malfunctioning parts, assemblies, equipment or systems.
• Examine, measure, inspect or test defective parts for conformance.
• Evaluate findings to formulate corrective actions.
• Develop installation procedure steps.
• Redline engineering drawings for new parts and subsystems.
• Facilitate retrofit and modification activities in the field and provide training to technicians.
• Brief upper leadership and customers on issues.
• Assign work to team and act as delegate for assignment manager.
