Job summary

Frontier-Kemper-Tutor Perini JV in New York, NY seeks a Senior Field Engineer to join the Manhattan Tunnel Project. You will report to the Senior Project Engineer and help develop schedules, coordinate with subcontractors, prepare work plans and keep cost and schedule tracking up to date.

The role requires a Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree, 5+ years in heavy civil, and proficiency with CPM, Primavera P6, and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management from an accredited institution.
• 5+ years of civil construction experience.
• Experience on large heavy civil infrastructure projects in dense urban settings with public sector clients is a plus.
• Knowledge of construction safety and current federal & OSHA requirements.
• Project controls techniques: cost accounting, basic estimating, forecasting, and contracts.
• Strong working knowledge of the critical path method and resource scheduling.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and Primavera P6.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.

Responsibilities

• Review project plans and develop a construction schedule in coordination with project-wide activities.
• Coordinate with subcontractors on advanced material acquisitions and pre-construction deliverables.
• Develop and assist with obtaining quotes and draft contracts to meet project requirements.
• Prepare construction work plan packages and coordinate pre-construction meetings while ensuring prerequisites are identified and completed.
• Prepare, update, and distribute work activity schedules/updates, and communicate across discipline groups and agencies.
• Monitor and participate daily in field construction process; perform layout checks and technical reviews.
• Assist with subcontract administration and permanent material suppliers via submittals, RFIs, and performance records; maintain payment records.
• Assist in preparing monthly reporting for progress payments, schedule updates, and issue tracking/resolution.
• Participate in change orders and claims management.
• Identify and resolve changing site conditions or other impacts during planning of the work.
• Develop quality checks and coordinate permits from appropriate entities.
• Manage and submit project close-out in coordination with the client and third parties.

DESCRIPTION:

As a Senior Field Engineer at Frontier-Kemper, reporting tothe Senior Project Engineer, you will have the opportunity to:

• Review project plans and develop a construction schedule in coordination with project-wide activities.
• Coordinate with subcontractors on advanced material acquisitions and pre-construction deliverables
• Develop and assist with obtaining quotes and draft contracts to meet project requirements.
• Prepare construction work plan packages and coordinate pre-construction meetings while ensuring that all prerequisites to start construction activities are identified and completed.
• Prepare, update, and distribute work activity schedules/updates, and communicates across discipline groups and agencies to ensure proper advance notifications and coordination of start times.
• Monitor and participate daily in field construction process. Provides layout checks and technical reviews of work against requirements. Obtain confirmations from design engineer as needed
• Assist with subcontract administration and permanent material suppliers through monitoring of correspondence, submittals, RFI’s, and performance records; Maintains accurate payment records.
• Assist in preparing monthly reporting for progress payments, schedule updates, and problem/issue tracking and resolution. Provides accurate and factual assessments of project performance.
• Participate in change orders and claims management
• Identify and resolves changing site conditions or other impacts during planning of the work
• Develop quality checks and coordinate permits from appropriate entities
• Manage and submit project close-out in coordination with the client and third parties

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or similar, from an accredited institution
• 5 or more years of civil construction experience
• Experience on large heavy civil infrastructure projects in dense urban setting with public sector clients a plus.
• Knowledge of construction safety and current federal & OSHA Requirements.
