Job summary

Amtrak in New York is seeking a Sr/Field Electrical Engineer to support the Communication and Signals Department, focusing on safety, FRA compliance testing, maintenance, and repairs in all weather, 24/7 operations.

The role requires leadership, project-management skills, knowledge of railroad operations, and proficiency with MS Office. Office and field work are expected, with readiness for emergencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent
• Minimum of 6 years of experience
• In lieu of education, 10 years of relevant experience
• Must be qualified in Amtrak’s RWP, NORAC, AMT2, AMT 23/27
• Demonstrated leadership interfacing with all levels

Responsibilities

• Ensures safe work practices and Amtrak policies are enforced
• Directs FRA inspection and maintenance activities within the territory
• Ensures regulatory inspections comply with policies and CFR
• Provides expert knowledge in signal inspection, maintenance, construction
• Plans and implements maintenance and state of good repair programs
