Job summary

ERM is hiring Principal Investigators to lead on-site cultural resource mitigation and compliance for a transmission project in Northern Nevada and Southern Idaho. The PI will work with project managers, make live in-field decisions, and supervise a team including ERM staff and subconsultants to implement avoidance measures and maintain regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a closely related field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years PI field experience in Great Basin archaeological work.
• NV BLM PI Statewide permit for Prehistoric and Historic required.
• Experience mitigating infrastructure projects.
• Strong familiarity with Section 106, NHPA, and BLM/ID/NV permitting.
• Ability to identify prehistoric and historic archaeological materials and features.
• Experience using GPS, Survey123, ArcGIS or similar data collection tools.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Ability to work safely in active construction environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead mitigation following the Historic Properties Treatment Plan and site plans.
• Make live-time decisions to adjust site plans for data gain and compliance.
• Promote safety leadership and field coordination.
• Document and evaluate archaeological materials and features in field.
• Implement unanticipated discovery procedures with permits.
• Coordinate in real time with project managers and cultural leads.
• Ensure permit conditions and environmental commitments are met.
• Oversee field notes, photos, GPS data and data quality.
• Support reporting and updates to BLM with field forms.
• Assist with documentation and memos; communicate findings to teams.
• Collaborate with Native American monitors when applicable.
• Other duties as assigned; comply with ERM safety program.
