ERM is hiring a Principal Investigator to lead on-site cultural resource mitigation, compliance, and support during the construction phase of our client’s transmission and distribution project in Northern Nevada and Southern Idaho.

The PI will work with project managers to understand client risk decisions, schedule drivers, and field methods, making real-time decisions and leading teams to ensure uninterrupted progress while maintaining regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years PI field experience in Great Basin archaeology.
• NV BLM PI Statewide permit for Prehistoric and Historic.
• Experience mitigating infrastructure projects.
• Strong familiarity with Section 106, NHPA, and BLM/NV/ID permitting.
• Ability to identify prehistoric and historic-period archaeological materials and features.
• Experience using GPS, Survey123, ArcGIS or similar tools.
• Valid driver’s license and safe outdoor work record.

Responsabilités

• Lead mitigation following treatment and site-specific plans.
• Communicate live changes to plans to meet data, BLM, and schedule needs.
• Lead safety initiatives and supervise field crew.
• Document and evaluate archaeological materials and features.
• Implement unanticipated discovery procedures per permits.
• Coordinate in real time with project managers and cultural resource leads.
• Maintain compliance with permit conditions and environmental commitments.
• Oversee daily field notes, photos, and GPS data.
• Support reporting and updates to the BLM and field forms.
• Ensure data quality across crew activities and methods.
• Assist with documentation and technical memoranda.
• Communicate findings and work status to teams and senior archaeologists.
• Coordinate with Native American tribal monitors when applicable.
• Other duties as assigned; comply with ERM safety program.
