Amphenol Custom Cable is seeking a Product Development Engineer to advance fiber optic product offerings from concept through commercialization. You will prepare new fiber optic products, drive improvements to manufacturing methods, and engage with customers to enhance user experience.

The role requires 8+ years in fiber optics or related industries, strong CAD skills (AutoCAD, SolidWorks), and the ability to read engineering drawings while collaborating across engineering and production teams.

Qualifikationen

• 8+ years of experience in fiber optics or related industry.
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical/industrial/electrical engineering or manufacturing technology.
• Strong ability to read and follow engineering drawings and production documentation.
• Hands-on with products and machinery; willingness to troubleshoot.
• Experience with fiber-optic product development, testing, and qualification.

Aufgaben

• Oversee fiber cable assembly engineering projects requested by sales (quotes, BOM creation, and new product requests).
• Create and manage BOMs and drawings using ERP and CAD software.
• Lead design, development, qualification, and improvement of fiber-optic products.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to improve performance, quality and cost.
• Develop engineering specs, test procedures, documentation, and product requirements.
• Participate in NPI, design reviews, and engineering change processes.
• Review drawings and BOMs for accuracy and ensure technical confidence with customers.
• Interface with customers to provide technical support during sales development.
• Develop production documentation and operating instructions for new products.
• Assist production to improve manufacturing procedures and tooling.
• Stay current with fiber optic technologies and manufacturing processes.
