Optical Engines is seeking an experienced Fiber Laser Engineer to support Directed Energy and NewSpace products at our Colorado Springs, CO facility. The role focuses on building and testing high power fiber laser systems, mentoring a team of engineers and technicians in a cutting-edge R&D environment.

This hands-on position involves assembling optical test setups, conducting critical measurements, and traveling occasionally to customer sites.

Qualifications

• B.S. or advanced degree in Engineering or Physics.
• 5+ years of relevant experience working with lasers.
• Hands-on skills with multidisciplinary knowledge of optics, mechanics, and electronics.
• Strong theoretical and experimental understanding of lasers and their components.
• Detail-oriented and accountable with a need for continuous improvement.
• Ability to learn new technologies and work independently within a multidisciplinary team.
• Programming experience for automating experiments and data processing/analysis (Python, LabVIEW, C, C++).

Responsabilités

• Set up and operate complex optical equipment and measurement apparatus.
• Inspect and evaluate laser system components.
• Build and characterize high power fiber laser systems.
• Work in an R&D team to meet target applications.
• Manage procurement and logistics of high-value parts and equipment.
• Occasional travel to customer sites to support integration of deployed laser systems.
