Job summary

Palo Alto Networks is seeking a Sr. Staff Systems Engineer (FedRAMP) to lead secure cloud automation across FedRAMP boundaries.

You will own automated infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and container platforms, collaborating with Information Security, R&D, and FedRAMP Production Operations teams. You will guide IaC, harden production workloads, and drive compliant cloud deployments while mentoring engineers and supporting on-call reliability.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Systems Engineering in highly regulated cloud environments.
• Hands-on Google Cloud Platform experience with GCP Assured Workloads, IAM, and VPC Service Controls.
• Proven ability to architect and operate GKE/Kubernetes in production.
• Strong IaC experience with Terraform and config management (Ansible).
• CI/CD pipelines with security testing and automated gates.
• FedRAMP Moderate/High and/or DoD SRG IL4/IL5 security controls experience.
• Python and Bash scripting for automation and tooling development.
• Experience with IT change management and enterprise ticketing systems.
• U.S. Citizenship and ability to pass background checks for DoD/federal access.
• Industry certifications in cloud security or DevOps are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Architect, deploy, and maintain IaC across GCP and FedRAMP boundaries.
• Build and harden CI/CD pipelines with security checks and image scanning.
• Manage and scale production GKE clusters with strict network isolation.
• Automate controls for NIST SP 800-53 and DoD SRG IL5 compliance.
• Design unified monitoring, logging, and observability across enclaves.
• Implement zero-trust identity and access governance within FedRAMP boundaries.
• Apply formal change management and support blue/green deployments.
• Provide self-service automation tooling and mentorship for engineers.
• Participate in on-call rotation to fix high-priority issues.
