Job summary

Aptive is seeking a full-time Technical Writer to support the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) EHR Modernization program. The role focuses on strategic communications, executive messaging, stakeholder engagement, and health IT modernization, collaborating with senior leadership, clinicians, operational stakeholders, and government clients.

You will develop and edit federal policy documents, translate complex workforce analyses for leaders, produce policy and workforce planning materials,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in communications or related field.
• 8+ years in consulting, strategic communications, executive communications, stakeholder engagement, or healthcare communications.
• Experience with federal government initiatives, preferably VA/VHA.
• Experience with AP Style, Section 508 compliance, and federal plain language requirements.
• Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and executive communications skills.
• Experience developing executive-level presentations using PowerPoint.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Develop, edit, and maintain federal policy documentation per VHA directives, federal formats, and governance processes.
• Translate complex workforce analyses into clear materials for executives and governance stakeholders.
• Produce policy, strategy, and workforce planning documents to support federal review and approval.
• Ensure consistency, accuracy, and professional presentation across high-visibility deliverables.
• Manage document version control, review cycles, and artifact traceability across multiple workstreams and PIs.
• Coordinate updates and stakeholder feedback to align with evolving program requirements and governance decisions.
• Prepare workforce materials for publication per VIC content standards, requirements, and accessibility guidelines.
• Maintain document repositories and supporting records for compliance and audits.
