Job summary

Bloomberg Media seeks an experienced writer to expand Pursuits and Bloomberg Weekend coverage, combining culture and economics with Bloomberg’s analytical lens.

You will produce magazine-style features, spot new story opportunities, and manage multiple assignments while collaborating with reporters and editors across platforms.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of experience in digital/print journalism with magazine-style features.
• Curiosity and ideas with an eye for emerging consumer and lifestyle trends.
• Broad network of sources across the region for high-profile and personal interviews.
• Understanding global financial markets and their interaction with culture.
• Experience writing for a global Bloomberg-like audience.
• Ability to translate ideas across platforms including audio, video and TV.
• Collaborative spirit and willingness to share ideas and support others.

Bloomberg Media is looking for an insightful, experienced and versatile writer to help us expand Bloomberg’s culture and lifestyle coverage. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional journalist, with expertise in a variety of cultural and lifestyle subjects, as well as intense curiosity about how market forces intersect with our daily lives and influence our desires. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for captivating meaningful stories about cultural, social and lifestyle trends, as well as a knack for filtering signal from noise, explaining context and connections, and translating financial ideas into clear, compelling prose.

Along with Bloomberg Weekend, CityLab, Markets Magazine and The Mishal Husain Show, Pursuits is part of Bloomberg Media’s Ideas & Culture group, which produces premium, idea-driven journalism that applies Bloomberg’s distinctive lens — global, analytical and forward-looking — to the forces shaping modern life.

This role reports to the Managing Editor of Pursuits.

We’ll Trust You To

• Write exceptional and original narrative features and reported essays for Pursuits and Bloomberg Weekend
• Spot opportunities for great stories and ideas at the intersections of culture, society, consumer behavior and economics
• Manage multiple assignments at once in order to contribute to weekly and monthly online and print publication schedules
• Collaborate with beat reporters and editors to identify ideas, data and sources, and ensure that stories reflect Bloomberg’s expertise
• Integrate your reporting and ideas across Bloomberg media platforms, including video, audio, newsletters, TV and events

You’ll Need To Have

• At least 10 years of experience in digital/print journalism and an extensive track record of insightful, compelling, deeply reported magazine-style features on a wide range of culture and lifestyle topics
• Boundless curiosity and ideas, and a keen eye for emerging consumer and lifestyle trends
• A broad network of sources across the region, and experience securing and executing both high-profile and deeply personal interviews
• Interest in and understanding of global financial markets and how they interact with culture and society
• Experience writing for a global audience similar to Bloomberg’s
• Demonstrated skill in communicating ideas across platforms, including audio, video and TV
• A generous spirit and a willingness to share ideas, collaborate on projects, and support others’ work

Salary Range = 145,000-185,000 USD Annual+ Benefits + Bonus

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
