Job summary

Apple Inc. is seeking an experienced FEA engineer to own and drive analysis of cutting-edge designs, enabling early material and structural optimization. You will lead material characterization and testing plans, and coordinate across teams to integrate module models into larger assemblies.

The role requires a strong background in advanced FEA (Abaqus/ANSYS), thermal–mechanical analysis, and ML-driven optimization. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree minimum in Mechanical Engineering, or related field with 10+ years of advanced FEA experience.
• Experience in mechanics of materials and ability to understand complex physical mechanisms from first principles.
• Experience with Abaqus or ANSYS for static, dynamic, and thermal–mechanical simulations.
• Experience with material constitutive models for metals, brittle materials, plastics, and adhesives.

Responsibilities

• Generate FEA/analytical models for mechanical parts, modules, and assemblies across programs.
• Own material characterization and testing plans to support modeling efforts.
• Coordinate with analysts to integrate module models into larger system assemblies.
• Communicate results to team, cross-functional peers, and management regularly.
• Drive failure analysis and root-cause investigations to resolve difficult problems.
• Propose data-driven solutions based on analysis results.
• Develop engineering specifications and processes to ensure early analysis and validation.
