Job summary

Apple Inc. is seeking a core member of the Product Design FEA team to drive predictive engineering using finite element methods. You will build models for key load cases and collaborate with a cross-functional team to define new mechanical requirements and material models.

You will test and validate models, bridging simulation and physical testing with instrumented experiments, contributing to early-stage design for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Vision Pro, and more.

Qualifications

• MS in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, Structural Engineering, or similar with 3+ years experience.
• Experience in implicit and explicit finite element analysis (FEA).
• Strong knowledge of solid mechanics.
• Attention to details and verification/validation.
• Desire to work in a fast-paced environment with passion for cutting edge products.
• Preferred: PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience with Abaqus, ANSA and META; system-level modeling and constitutive modeling.

Responsibilities

• Build and run product models for important design load cases.
• Interact closely with cross-functional design team to define new load cases and mechanical requirements.
• Help test, characterize and develop new material models.
• Close the gaps between simulation and test with highly instrumented tests and rigorous validation.

Description

As a core member of the product design team, you will drive the design of ground breaking products using predictive finite element simulation. Build and run product models for important design load cases. Interact closely with the cross functional design team to define new load cases and product level mechanical requirements. You will be fully integrated with the product design team from the earliest stages to engineer ground breaking products.

Minimum Qualifications

• M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, Structural Engineering, or similar discipline required along with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in implicit and explicit finite element analysis (FEA).
• Strong knowledge of solid mechanics.
• Attention to details and commitment to verification/validation.
• Desire to work in a fast-paced environment with passion for creating cutting edge products.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Abaqus, ANSA and META.
• Experience with system level modeling and simulation.
• Experience with the mechanical behavior of materials and constitutive modeling.
• Self-motivated to identify areas for improvement and drive innovation.
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration and written and verbal communication.
• Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, Structural Engineering, or similar discipline.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $150,400 and $277,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
