Job summary

TAS Energy Inc. seeks a FAT Technician II to perform shop inspections and testing of TAS equipment before shipment. You will visually inspect mechanical, electrical and control systems, troubleshoot and perform minor repairs per project documents and checklists.

Role interfaces with Operations, Project Engineers and Managers as well as other FAT Technicians; this is a hands-on, high-detail position based in Houston, TX. Training others in FAT procedures is included.

Qualifications

• Highschool diploma or equivalent required.
• HVAC trade school or apprenticeship preferred.
• Military training/experience could be considered in lieu of trade school.
• Experience with verification of compliance with ASHRAE/ASME codes is preferred.
• Must be detailed and organized and able to work with all craft support.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe.

Responsibilities

• Perform Mechanical, Electrical, Controls and Architectural Visual inspections and tagging/labeling checks.
• Perform PID Walkdown and Major Mechanical Equipment inspections (Chillers, Pumps, Heat Exchangers, Fans).
• Perform Electrical Visual inspections and Major Electrical Equipment inspections (Switchboards, Panels, ATSs, UPSs, MCCs, Transformers, VFD Drives).
• Verify LV & MV Power Cable Installations.
• Perform Electrical Testing (LV 480V Meggering) and Pre-Energization Panel inspections.
• Safely energize power distribution equipment and perform small power system testing.
• Perform Soft Starter and VFD setup/configuration with rotational checks.
• Initial energization checks on Local Controllers, PLCs, end devices.
• Update software configurations for Local Controllers, VFDs, PLCs.
• Perform wiring testing and IO functional tests.
• Complete checklists in Autodesk Construction Cloud and issue punchlists for defects.
• Train others in performing factory acceptance testing.
