Job summary

City of Hampton is seeking an experienced supervisor for Social Services to lead a team of Family Services Specialists. The role includes program management, policy interpretation, and ensuring high-quality service delivery to protect vulnerable populations.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Work and at least five years in direct social services with supervision, plus strong leadership and communication skills. This is an on-site position with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or related field required.
• Minimum of five (5) years of direct social service delivery experience including supervision of others.
• Extensive knowledge of social work principles, practices, and treatment; supervisory principles and techniques; understanding of community needs and laws.

Responsibilities

• Supervises the staff of social service providers; plans, coordinates, assigns, and reviews their work.
• Ensures compliance with state and local policy and that service delivery meets objectives.
• Provides leadership and training; develops training programs and monitors program effectiveness.
• Handles workforce actions including selection, evaluation, promotion, and discipline; manages leave and coverage.
