Summary of Role:
This position is in the Failure Analysis Laboratory in GLOBALFOUNDRIES’ 300mm fab in Malta, New York. The ideal candidate will have some technical understanding of semiconductor failure analysis using sample preparation, imaging, and analytical techniques. The candidate should have a solid understanding of semiconductor technology and manufacturing processes.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct routine analytical jobs using defined and documented procedures, meeting or exceeding cycle time and quality standards.
  2. Interact with lab engineers and managers to define analytical methods needed to achieve expected results, including analysis and interpretation of results.
  3. Perform basic preventive maintenance activities on analytical equipment to ensure smooth operation, minimizing stand-by and idle time.
  4. Perform sample preparation techniques (e.g., TEM/SEM sample preparation) to enable subsequent analyses.
  5. Use standard software applications for analytical job management and reporting results.
  6. Identify and address potential areas for improvement and optimization, including cycle time, utilization, and cost.
  7. Assist with training others to increase efficiency.
  8. Be a good team player with a strong work ethic, train new team members as needed, and promote a positive work environment.
  9. Complete all required reporting and documentation.
  10. Understand and follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures and requirements.
  11. Participate actively in continuous improvement processes.
  12. Maintain a sense of urgency in tasks.

Other Responsibilities:

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: 2-year technical/associate’s degree in science, math, engineering, electrical engineering, semiconductor manufacturing, or related discipline, or equivalent military training/experience.
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal).
  • Ability to perform shift work on a 12-hour night shift schedule.
  • Ability to follow work and safety procedures in a laboratory environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of semiconductor processes.
  • Experience with SEM, FIB, TEM sample preparation, TEM imaging.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures, demonstrating high attention to detail and timeliness.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize activities.
  • Experience working in an analytical laboratory related to failure analysis, materials science, inorganic chemistry, or semiconductor manufacturing is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of analysis methodologies used in failure analysis for semiconductor manufacturing.
