Job summary

Analog Devices, Inc. in California is seeking an Experienced Failure Analysis Engineer to analyze failure root causes of RMAs, investigate new product failures, and determine yield excursions.

You'll collaborate with Design, Process, and Packaging groups to identify root causes and propose corrective actions. The role requires a semiconductor-focused engineering or physics background, expertise in failure analysis tools, and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Engineering, Physics, or Science with semiconductor emphasis.
• Experience in Failure Analysis, Product, Design, Application, Fab Process or Test Engineering.
• Strong understanding of Analog and mixed-signal circuit analysis.
• Reading schematics and layout.
• Knowledge of Failure Analysis Tools and Techniques: Optical microscopy, X-ray, EMMI, OBIRCH, ELITE and Microprobing.
• Experience with electrical bench equipment: Curve tracer, Oscilloscopes, Source measure units.
• Good English communication and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze failure root cause of RMA returns.
• Investigate causes of new product failures.
• Determine causes of yield excursions.
• Collaborate with Design, Application, process, product and package engineering to identify the failure root cause and propose corrective actions.
• Write technical reports with failure analysis findings.
• Meet ADI’s failure analysis cycle time and quality commitments.
• Develop new techniques for analyzing failures.
• Take ownership for a piece of failure analysis equipment; and keep it running.
• Mentor young engineers in the group.
