Job description

Description

Ascentec Engineering is hiring a Senior Factory Production Planner / Master Scheduler who will be the senior individual contributor responsible for translating customer demand, forecasts, backlog, strategy, manufacturing capacity, material availability, and business priorities into a credible and executable multi-site production plan. The role supports demand planning and owns development, maintenance, and governance of the Master Production Schedule (MPS) across the applicable planning horizon.

This position serves as the integration point between Customer Service, Operations, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality, and Planning. Epicor Kinetic is the system of record; Planet Together APS is the primary advanced planning and scheduling tool for approved demand-to-capacity analysis, master scheduling, finite scheduling, constraint visibility, level loading, and scenario evaluation.

This position will support our Tualatin, Oregon and Dallas, Oregon facilities.

This position is onsite (not remote/not hybrid) and is not eligible for Visa sponsorship or transfer of Visa sponsorship.

Requirements
1. Demand Planning and Demand‑Signal Governance
  • Consolidate customer forecasts, open orders, backlog, historical consumption, customer ramps, NPI requirements, and commercial inputs into a forward-looking demand view.
  • Analyze demand variability, forecast accuracy, bias, mix changes, and significant shifts in customer requirements.
  • Challenge unsupported assumptions, resolve conflicting demand inputs, and document the approved demand signal, assumptions, risks, and ownership.
  • Support S&O/SIOP and S&O/E processes by preparing demand scenarios, gaps, tradeoffs, and recommended decisions.
  • Translate approved demand into time-phased production requirements without replacing Commercial ownership of the customer forecast.
2. Master Production Scheduling
  • Develop, maintain, and govern the Master Production Schedule across the approved planning horizon.
  • Translate the demand plan into realistic production requirements by site, product line, resource group, and time period.
  • Apply planning fences, scheduling rules, lot‑sizing logic, lead times, inventory targets, and schedule‑stability standards.
  • Perform rough‑cut capacity planning and confirm material and resource feasibility before publishing the MPS.
  • Evaluate requested priority or due‑date changes based on impact to capacity, materials, other customers, WIP, revenue, and schedule performance.
  • Develop alternative production scenarios and recommend the best executable response when demand exceeds supply or capacity.
3. Capacity, Material, and Constraint Integration
  • Partner with the Capacity Planner to validate labor, machine, tooling, shift, outside processing, and other resource assumptions.
  • Identify future bottlenecks, overloads, supplier constraints, material shortages, engineering readiness gaps, and quality conditions that threaten the MPS.
  • Balance workload across sites and resource groups when authorized and supported by methods, capability, quality, and business requirements.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing and Commodity Management to align material and supplier‑capacity plans with the MPS.
  • Escalate structural gaps with timing, quantified business impact, scenario options, and a recommended decision.
4. Production‑Plan Execution and Change Control
  • Translate the MPS into executable requirements for site planners, schedulers, capacity planning, purchasing, and Operations.
  • Lead regular master‑schedule reviews covering demand changes, backlog, material readiness, capacity, constraints, recovery plans, and decision needs.
  • Maintain schedule stability while responding to legitimate customer, quality, engineering, equipment, labor, and supply disruptions.
  • Use the Planning Change Request process for proposed changes that are not supported by the approved system plan.
  • Coordinate recovery scenarios for past‑due or at‑risk demand and ensure actions, owners, dates, and impacts are visible.
5. Planning Systems and Data Governance
  • Use Epicor Kinetic as the system of record for demand, jobs, inventory, methods, routings, planning parameters, and transactional status.
  • Use Planet Together APS for approved MPS analysis, finite‑capacity evaluation, resource loading, level loading, bottleneck analysis, what‑if scenarios, and executable schedule alignment.
  • Maintain or govern planning parameters including lead times, order policies, lot sizes, safety stock, time fences, calendars, resource assignments, priorities, and scheduling attributes.
  • Identify inaccurate or incomplete data that produces unreliable planning output and coordinate correction with the designated data owner.
  • Support user acceptance testing, standard work, system configuration improvements, and controlled deployment of planning‑process changes.
6. Cross‑Functional Leadership and Communication
  • Serve as the senior planning point of contact for demand‑to‑supply alignment and master‑schedule decisions.
  • Communicate constraints, assumptions, customer impact, tradeoffs, and recommendations clearly to management and cross‑functional partners.
  • Facilitate planning decisions without bypassing established accountability for customer forecasts, operational capacity, material commitments, engineering readiness, or quality disposition.
  • Coach planners and scheduling personnel on MPS logic, planning discipline, system usage, and escalation standards.
  • Support development of scalable multi‑site planning processes, roles, measures, and governance.
7. Performance Management and Continuous Improvement
  • Establish and monitor forecast accuracy and bias, MPS attainment, schedule adherence, schedule stability, past‑due backlog, capacity‑constrained demand, inventory performance, and customer‑service risk
  • Analyze root causes of plan instability, missed commitments, excess WIP, poor parameter performance, and recurring schedule disruption.
  • Lead corrective actions that improve plan credibility, data quality, system adoption, and cross‑functional decision speed.
  • Document planning assumptions, decisions, standard work, and lessons learned to reduce dependence on tribal knowledge
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent progressive manufacturing experience may be considered.
  • 5–8+ years of progressive demand planning, production planning, master scheduling, materials planning, production control, or closely related manufacturing experience.
  • Demonstrated ownership of, or significant responsibility for, a Master Production Schedule in a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of MRP, MPS, RCCP, finite‑capacity planning, inventory management, planning parameters, time fences, and S&O/SIOP or S&O/E principles.
  • Ability to translate demand, supply, capacity, material, and operational data into executable plans and decision‑ready recommendations.
  • Advanced ERP, Excel, data-analysis, and planning‑system capability.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, judgment, and cross‑functional influence skills.
Preferred:
  • Epicor Kinetic experience.
  • Planet Together APS or equivalent advanced planning and scheduling experience.
  • Semiconductor, aerospace, precision machining, high‑mix/low‑volume, or contract manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with multi‑site planning, customer ramps, NPI, constrained‑capacity environments, and backlog recovery.
  • APICS/ASCM CPIM or CSCP certification.
COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:
  • $100,000 to $120,000 per year DOE
  • 401k with company match up to 4%
  • Tiered Quarterly Bonus Program
