Job summary

The South Dakota Developmental Center seeks an experienced Facility Operations Manager to oversee safe, efficient operations in a highly regulated environment. The role emphasizes compliance auditing, life safety, and coordination with construction projects to protect the facility’s mission and residents.

Ideal candidate will have supervisory experience, strong technical knowledge of building systems, and excellent communication skills to collaborate with state agencies and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in a related field
• Supervisory experience in building maintenance, construction, or similar field preferred
• Extensive knowledge of Life Safety Code, National Electric Code, ADA Standards, ICF/IID Regulations
• Strong computer skills and familiarity with facility infrastructure management
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal skills
• Ability to review construction documents and interpret project specifications
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

Responsibilities

• Oversee the efficient, economical, and safe operation of the facility
• Ensure compliance with regulatory audits and standards
• Supervise maintenance and facility staff as needed
• Coordinate with construction and renovation projects to minimize disruptions
• Review and interpret project documents and specifications
• Engage with stakeholders at state and local levels
