Job summary

General Dynamics - Bath Iron Works is seeking a Senior Facilities Scheduler, Electrical to plan, schedule, and coordinate electrical maintenance, repairs, and capital improvements for shipbuilding facilities.

Responsibilities include developing integrated schedules, coordinating with multiple groups, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. Requires 5+ years in industrial settings, reading schematics, and strong communication skills. Occasional weekend work and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • BIW Graduate Apprentice or Associate degree preferred.
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician license preferred.
  • Read and interpret schematics, drawings, and technical manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare methods, manning, and material packages; coordinate scheduling.
  • Procure and manage maintenance materials; write specs and expedite deliveries.
  • Utilize CMMS to manage work orders, backlog, and documentation.
  • Develop and maintain equipment files; inspect preventative maintenance checks.
  • Perform Job Hazard Analysis and coordinate risk mitigation; enforce PPE compliance.
  • Provide administrative support; occasional supervision of crews.
  • Develop integrated electrical maintenance schedules for facility upgrades and outages.
  • Coordinate cross-functional planning with facilities, operations, procurement, and contractors.
  • Monitor schedule performance and adjust to minimize production impact.
  • Support Lean and reliability initiatives; standardize best practices.
  • Promote safety; ensure permits, LOTO, and regulatory compliance in planning.

Job description

We offer a competitive salary for this role, with an expected range of $82,300-$104,300. The final offer will depend on your experience, skills, and overall qualifications. The Senior Facilities Scheduler, Electrical is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating electrical maintenance, repair, and capital improvement work supporting shipbuilding facilities. This candidate will be a key contributor to facility reliability, workforce productivity, and continuous process improvement.

Operating under the BIW Business Operating System (BOS), the Facilities, Senior Electrical Scheduler ensures compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards while coordinating with other key stakeholders to meet overall milestones.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepares methods, manning, and material packages and coordination of scheduling for completion.
  • Maintenance Materials Procurement Research and writes purchase specs, arranges and expedites deliveries, monitors and replenishes inventories for work crews.
  • Utilizes Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage repair and Preventive Maintenance (PM) Work-order evaluation, acceptance, status tracking, prioritizing, maintaining backlog, readying for release, monitoring for performance and proper documentation, timely closeout.
  • Technical Support Develops and maintains equipment files and machinery data. Inspects and monitors preventative maintenance checks and diagnostic procedures. Help analyze equipment failures. Performs technical correspondence with vendors. Helps research new technology, cost reductions, and equipment specifications.
  • Perform Job Hazard Analysis and coordinate risk mitigation (such as equipment Lock Out Tag Out, Dig Safe, Fall Plans), and personal protective equipment (PPE) are identified to ensure safe job sites for planned jobs.
  • Administrative Supports management in matters such as writing funding requests, performance histories, etc. Occasional direct supervision of jobs and work crews as needed.
Safety Leadership
  • Demonstrate visible commitment to safety
  • Integrate safety requirements, permits, lockout/tagout (LOTO), energized work restrictions, and regulatory compliance into all work planning and scheduling activities.
  • Participate in pre-job planning, job hazard analyses (JHA), and safety reviews.
  • Coordinate work to minimize operational and personnel exposure while maintaining production commitments.
  • Promote safe work practice through effective planning and communication.
  • Always utilize all proper PPE requirements.
Project Execution
  • Develop and optimize integrated schedules for electrical maintenance, facility upgrades, outages, and capital projects.
  • Coordinate work across facilities while balancing operational priorities.
  • Maximize utilization of union craft labor, contractors, equipment, and materials.
  • Monitor schedule performance.
  • Coordinate outages to minimize production impacts.
Training and Development
  • Develop planning procedures and templates.
  • Support training initiatives.
  • Promote continuous learning.
Team Collaboration and Communication
  • Coordinate between Facilities Maintenance Groups, Facilities Engineering, Operations, Project Management, Procurement, contractors, and union leadership.
  • Participate in planning meetings and resolve resource conflicts.
  • Communicate schedule status and risks.
  • Foster accountability and collaboration.
Continuous Improvement
  • Improve planning accuracy and schedule compliance.
  • Support Lean and Reliability initiatives.
  • Recommend process and system improvements.
  • Standardize best practices.
Required
  • High School Diploma or GED.
Preferred
  • BIW Graduate Apprentice or Associate's Degree.
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician License.
Required
  • This role requires occasional weekend work. Candidate must be available and willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays to meet customer project commitments.
  • Must have the skill to read and understand schematics, drawings, and technical manuals.

Preferred Experience
  • Minimum of 5 - years of work experience in industrial/commercial setting.
  • Minimum of 5 (+) - years of technical experience (Master Electrician)
  • Minimum of 5 - years of resource planning and manpower allocation.
  • Minimum of 5 - years of job planning or project management experience.
  • Experience supervising in maintenance organization.
Preferred Skills
  • Construction or Maintenance repair experience (building systems, mechanical controls)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint.
  • Experience working with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (MAXIMO)
  • Experience and skill in troubleshooting Machinery electrical and PLC systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial/commercial plant systems, equipment, and layout.
  • Basic Project Management Skills Required (PMP or CAPM certification)
