Job summary

NOME PUBLIC SCHOOLS is seeking a Maintenance Foreman to lead and supervise the in-house maintenance staff and contractors in Nome, AK. This working journeyman role directs daily activities, coordinates repairs, and ensures safety and regulatory compliance while managing the maintenance program.

The position requires a valid driver’s license, strong leadership, and experience with HVAC systems and building automation. Nome residents are encouraged to apply for this on-site role.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of journeyman level experience in a building trades field.
• Previous supervision of maintenance personnel preferred.
• Experience with HVAC, building automation, and direct digital controls is preferred.
• Experience operating a computerized maintenance management system is desirable.
• Proven leadership, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Directs, schedules, trains, and supervises maintenance staff daily.
• Dispatches technicians and manages timekeeping and expense approvals.
• Oversees routine and emergency repair and maintenance of district properties.
• Manages maintenance budgets and operating expenses.
• Ensures safety programs and compliance with regulations.
• Oversees contract services including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and building systems.
• Acts as alternate Facilities Manager as needed.
