Job summary

Mental Health Association of Nassau County is seeking a Senior Facilities Maintenance and Repair Technician to maintain MHANC-owned buildings and residences throughout the region. The role involves preventive inspections, repairs across multiple trades, and coordinating with contractors to ensure safe, clean, and welcoming facilities for staff and clients.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, valid NYS driver's license, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Reading and interpreting safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Basic written communication and strong verbal communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and repair plumbing, painting, carpentry, electrical systems, flooring, locks, appliances, and life-safety equipment.
• Coordinate administrative work with vendors and contractors to support repairs and maintenance.
• Provide guidance to Facilities Maintenance Technicians as assigned.
• Notify supervisor of repairs, safety concerns, warranty issues, or problems needing follow-up.
• Perform preventive maintenance to ensure safe operation of building systems.
• Respond promptly to facility maintenance issues during scheduled hours.
• Support cleaning and safety of facilities and complete special cleaning projects as needed.
• Assist with office and facility setups including moving furniture and equipment.
• Maintain exterior areas and assist with seasonal grounds work.
• Complete tasks safely, timely, and efficiently; use tools to prevent waste and accidents.
• Work independently and in accordance with agency policies; report results to supervisor.
