Job summary

Saint Kate – The Arts Hotel in Milwaukee seeks a Chief Engineer to lead engineering, maintenance, life safety, and facility operations, ensuring a safe, efficient, and well-maintained property.

You will manage the Engineering team, oversee preventive maintenance programs, budgets, and capital projects while collaborating with hotel leadership to deliver an exceptional guest and associate experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–7 years progressive engineering or facilities maintenance experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Bachelor's or Associate’s degree in engineering, Facilities Management, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
• Experience in hotel, resort, hospitality, healthcare, or large commercial facilities preferred.
• Familiarity with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life safety systems.
• Strong budgeting, vendor management, and project planning skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for engineering, maintenance, life safety, and facility operations to ensure a safe, efficient property.
• Lead and develop the Engineering team through hiring, training, coaching, performance management, scheduling, and succession planning.
• Direct preventive maintenance, work orders, and building systems operation including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and kitchen equipment.
• Develop and manage departmental operating and capital budgets, identifying cost savings and efficiencies.
• Plan and oversee capital improvement projects and major repairs to protect assets and support long-term goals.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements including OSHA and life safety standards.
