Job summary

Saint Kate - The Arts Hotel in Milwaukee seeks a Chief Engineer to lead engineering, maintenance, and facility operations, ensuring safety and efficiency across all building systems. You will manage the Engineering team, budgets, and preventive maintenance programs while aligning with regulatory standards and guest experience objectives.

The role requires strong leadership, hands-on technical expertise in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building automation, and the ability to plan capital

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or associate degree in engineering, facilities management, or related field.
• 5–7 years in engineering or facilities maintenance, with at least 2 in a leadership role.
• Experience in hotels, resorts, or large commercial facilities preferred.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life-safety systems.
• Ability to read blueprints and construction documents.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for engineering, maintenance, life safety, and facility operations.
• Lead, develop, and manage the Engineering team through hiring, training, coaching, performance management, scheduling, and succession planning.
• Oversee preventive maintenance, work orders, and the repair and operation of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, refrigeration, fire life safety, and kitchen equipment.
• Develop and manage departmental operating and capital budgets, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiencies.
• Plan, prioritize, and oversee capital improvement projects and facility upgrades to protect assets.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements including OSHA and fire life safety regulations.
• Partner with hotel leadership to support operational needs and guest/associate experience.
• Maintain relationships with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders while monitoring inventory and standards.
• Prepare reports, forecasts, and recommendations regarding facility conditions and capital needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned
