Job summary

Bowhead in Plano, TX seeks a Fabrication Shop Estimator to determine accurate fabrication costs and produce detailed quotations for parts and assemblies. The role collaborates with the Fab Shop GM, Program Manager and engineering to define processes and estimates.

Responsibilities include evaluating material, labor, tooling and external services, reviewing customer data packs, and maintaining estimating standards to support timely bids.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or tradesperson with industry experience required.
• 3+ years estimating experience in fabrication or similar.
• Strong knowledge of sheet metal, machining, welding, finish fabrication.
• Experience with CNC, laser cutting, press brake operations.
• Reading engineering drawings with GD&T interpretation.
• Excellent math, analytics, and attention to detail.
• Good written and verbal communication; able to manage priorities.
• Organized with ability to meet deadlines; PM experience is a plus.
• Proficient in MS Office; SolidWorks/AutoCAD knowledge helpful.
• Experience in Aerospace & Defense is a plus; Driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Determine material, operations, labor and machines for each part.
• Prepare estimates for material, labor, tooling, inspection and outside processing
• Review customer scope, specs and quality standards from the contract package
• Review customer prints, CAD models and specs; apply standards
• Gather material estimates from suppliers
• Gather quotes from external service providers (steel, cutting, NDT, paint)
• Estimate labor for sheet metal, machining, welding and assembly
• Develop and maintain estimating standards
• Develop manufacturing steps with engineering; estimate run times
• Produce detailed estimates with actual vendor prices
• Identify risks and maintain quoting standards
• Support job planning, coordination and execution with leadership
