Job summary

Bowhead's Fabrication Shop Estimator in Plano, TX determines accurate costs for producing parts and assemblies. You will review customer specs, analyze CAD models, gather material estimates, and prepare detailed quotations.

Ideally 3+ years in fabrication estimating with strong sheet metal, machining, welding and GD&T knowledge; CAD/CA D tools like SolidWorks/AutoCAD and MS Office proficiency are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or tradesperson with industry experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years of estimating experience in the fabrication industry or equivalent industry experience.
• Strong knowledge of sheet metal, machining, welding and finish fabrication processes.
• Experience with CNC machinery, laser cutting, or press brake operations.
• Robust interpretation of engineering drawings with a solid understanding of GD&T.
• Strong math, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Working knowledge of SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
• Valid Driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates for the manufacture of parts, components and assemblies including material, labor, tooling, inspection and any outside processing.
• Review customer scope, specifications, and quality standards from the contract Technical Data Package.
• Review and analyze customer prints, CAD models, specifications, and applicable standards.
• Gather material estimates from suppliers and quotes from external service providers.
• Estimate labor for manufacturing including sheet metal, machining, welding and mechanical assembly.
• Develop and maintain estimating standards and manufacturing process steps with engineering and shop leadership.
• Identify risks and maintain quoting standards.
• Support job planning, coordination, and execution.
