Job summary

Antares in Torrance, CA is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Fabrication to own and mature fabrication processes for critical reactor hardware.

You will collaborate with design, materials, quality, and production to convert first‑of‑a‑kind designs into reliable, repeatable components across welding, CNC machining, metal forming, and special processes like additive manufacturing and diffusion bonding.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, Welding, Aerospace or related engineering field.
• 5+ years in manufacturing engineering, fabrication, or complex hardware development.
• Demonstrated depth in welding, CNC machining, metal forming, brazing, or metal additive manufacturing.
• Broad knowledge of metallic manufacturing processes and design/process interactions.
• Experience taking manufacturing processes from development to production or qualification.

Responsibilities

• Own fabrication processes for reactor components from development through qualified production.
• Develop and improve welding, machining, forming, additive manufacturing, brazing, and diffusion bonding processes.
• Mature first‑of‑a‑kind methods into robust, repeatable production processes.
• Influence component design, materials, joints, tolerances to improve manufacturability.
• Lead DFM reviews and identify risks early in design cycle.
• Define manufacturing sequences, process parameters, tooling, inspection, and controls.
• Develop manufacturing plans, work instructions, process specs, and qualification docs.
• Execute process qualification using dimensional inspection, metallography, mechanical testing, NDT, etc.
• Troubleshoot problems with technicians and implement solutions quickly.
• Lead root‑cause investigations and corrective actions for defects and process failures.
• Evaluate make‑versus‑buy decisions based on capability, risk, schedule, and cost.
• Support transition of hardware from development to repeatable production.
• Mentor engineers and technicians in process development and problem solving.
