Job summary

Mars Incorporated in Chicago is seeking a Sr. Manager, External Manufacturing to lead relationships with third-party co-manufacturers and co-packagers, ensuring quality, regulatory compliance and cost-competitive production.

You will oversee start-up and execution of external manufacturing programs, coordinate supply planning, inventory control, and continuous improvement initiatives across the external network, while aligning with Mars principles and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, engineering, basic science, manufacturing, or related disciplines.
• Minimum of 8 years of supply chain, commercial, logistics, manufacturing, planning or related business function with managerial experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of supply chain processes, with emphasis on production planning, quality, and manufacturing operations.
• Working knowledge of Food and Drug Laws, OSHA requirements, contract management.
• Broad understanding of major functions across supply chain and ability to work with all levels.
• Understanding of lean manufacturing techniques and philosophies.

Responsibilities

• External Supply Network Capability: collaborate with a wide network of suppliers and technologies.
• Supply Chain Management: partner with cross-functional teams to address capacity, costs, quality and growth projects.
• Manufacturing Conversion: manage production across co-manufacturers, supervise materials and scheduling, coordinate inventory and POs.
• Food Safety and Product Quality: enforce QFS standards with External Manufacturing Quality Teams.
• Goal Setting and Measurement: establish vendor performance standards and participate in budgets and KPI targets.
• Strategy Development: contribute to short- and long-term continuous improvement strategies.
• Communications: coordinate with functions to expedite projects and elevate issues when needed.
