Responsibilities

  • External Supply Network Capability: Collaborate with a wide network of suppliers and manufacturing technologies and bring a basic understanding of segment technologies and the external suppliers who operate in the space.
  • Supply Chain Management: Partner with cross-functional partners to address capacity constraints and efficiencies, optimize conversion costs, support quality improvements, and deliver growth projects with our co-manufacturing suppliers.
  • Manufacturing Conversion: Manage the manufacturing of products across multiple co-manufacturing and co-packaging suppliers and coordinate inventory, material planning, production scheduling, and cycle counts.
  • Food Safety and Product Quality: Ensure the continuous production of safe and defect-free products and enforce compliance to QFS standards.
  • Goal Setting and Measurement: Establish vendor performance standards, goals, and metrics, lead supplier performance reviews, and participate in budgets and KPI targets.
  • Strategy Development: Develop and implement short- and long-term continuous improvement strategies for external network performance.
  • Communications: Interact with other functional areas to expedite, coordinate, and facilitate project management.

Job Description:

Sr. Manager, External Manufacturing (2 Roles- Co-Man and Co-Pack)

The External Manufacturing Manager (EMM) roles provide leadership representing Mars interests with multiple 3rd party co-manufacturing and co-packaging suppliers, managing the relationships based on agreed contractual terms and conditions, and ensure compliance to all regulatory and quality standards. The EMM will act as direct liaison between Mars and the external 3rd party sites, ensuring quality products are safely manufactured in sanitary conditions and at competitive costs.

The EMM is responsible for the management of external manufacturing start-up, execution of new product launch, inventory and materials management, productivity improvements and supplier performance.

What are we looking for?

What would your key responsibilities be?

External Supply Network Capability: Collaborate with a wide network of suppliers and manufacturing technologies and bring a basic understanding of segment technologies and the external suppliers who operate in the space.

Supply Chain Management: Partner with cross-functional partners (Supply, R&D, Activity Management, Supply Planning, S&F, and Commercial) to address capacity constraints and efficiencies, optimize conversion costs, support quality improvements, and deliver growth projects with our co-manufacturing suppliers.

Manufacturing Conversion: Manage the manufacturing of products across multiple co-manufacturing and co-packaging suppliers.Indirectly manage Supply Chain Analysts in the overall operation of the external manufacturing supply chain network (materials management, inbound, production reporting, outbound). Responsibilities include raws and packs management, material planning, production scheduling, ensuring adherence to production plans, coordinating responses to customer demand fluctuations while delivering quality, safety and cost targets. Responsible for coordinating cycle counts and physical inventory counts at each ex-man site and for PO creation for materials and equipment to be determined as expense.Manage the relationship with co-manufacturers based on agreed upon terms and conditions and Scope of Work. Operational lead on discussions for new product execution, continuous improvement opportunities, and compliance requirements (i.e. Quality).

Food Safety and Product Quality : Ensure the continuous production of safe and defect-free products consistent with the Mars Principles. HACCP and Food Safety proficiency is required, as this role is responsible for enforcing compliance to the Q&FS standards and requirements, working directly with External Manufacturing Quality Teams.

Goal Setting and Measurement : Establish vendor performance standards, goals, and metrics aligned with the External Manufacturing strategy, and will lead supplier performance business reviews. Participate in the development of budgets and KPI targets and provide business updates through S&OP and other weekly operations meetings.

Strategy Development : Participate with the leadership and other functional leaders in the development and implementation of short- and long-term continuous improvement strategies that will drive a more effective and efficient external network performance.

Communications: Interact with other functional areas to expedite, coordinate, communicate, and facilitate project management, while providing leadership to assure smooth project implementation, and will act to elevate issues to an appropriate level to ensure business objectives are met.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is between the range listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.The total compensation package for this position will include variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits.Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.
