Job description

The Senior Export& Trade Compliance Manager provides essential operational and administrative support to the U.S. Export Compliance team. This individual serves as a primary point of contact for routine export activities, acting as a critical liaison between internal business functions and the Export Control team.

The ideal candidate is a highly organized, proactivemulti-tasker who thrivesin a fast-paced environment. You must be comfortable managing a diverse portfolio of daily responsibilities ranging from real-time transaction screening and document control to long-term project support while ensuring the business remains in full alignment with EAR regulations. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who can pivot quickly between administrative tasks and regulatory research without losing accuracy or momentum.

Primary Responsibilities:
Routine Compliance & Tactical Execution:
  • Screening & Due Diligence: Execute daily Restricted Party Screening (RPS) for suppliers and partners using compliance screening tools; document and archive all results.
  • Shipment Clearance: Act as the first line of defense for shipment holds; track down missing export elements (e.g., End User Statements, ECCNs) and support company sites to ensure outbound flow.
  • EEI & ACE Management: Review Electronic Export Information (EEI) filings against commercial invoices for accuracy; resolve filing discrepancies.
Licensing & Regulatory Support
  • Application Support: Assist Senior Managers in preparing and submitting export license applications via SNAP-R and monitoring license status.
  • Jurisdiction & Classification: Support the Commodity Classification (CCATS) process by reviewing supplier data and maintaining the master classification database.
  • Exemptions & Exceptions: Ensure all recordkeeping requirements are met prior to the use of EAR Exceptions.
Data Management & Internal Communications
  • Digital Ownership: Full ownership of the Export Control internal documentation; ensure all policies, forms, and updates are current.
  • Information Architecture: Lead the migration of historical compliance data into organized drive structures.
  • New Hire and Candidate Screening:
  • Manage routine onboarding for new personnel, including providing Export Control new hire orientations.
  • Process Secure Hiring alerts and conduct necessary screening of candidates.
Subsidiary Responsibilities
  • Multi-Entity Coordination: Act as a tactical resource for company subsidiaries, assisting in the alignment of their local processes with the central requirements.
  • Internal Controls Assessment: Assist in the collection, organization, and auditing of evidence required to achieve and maintain internal controls across all U.S. sites.
  • Site-Specific Troubleshooting: Provide administrative support to Export Points of Contact (EPoCs) at company sites, helping to resolve daily shipping holds and regulatory queries.
  • Corporate Mandate Execution: Support the rollout of corporate-led compliance initiatives, ensuring that policies are effectively communicated and implemented across all business entities in the perimeter.
Tracking, Reporting & Auditing:
  • Compliance Logs: Maintain a daily Technology Transfer Log and the Master Tracker for Government Inquiries.
  • EPoC Coordination: Manage the Export Point of Contact (EPoC) roster, identifying gaps and ensuring all sites have nominated representatives.
  • Regulatory Intelligence: Conduct routine research into BIS, OFAC, and DDTC enforcement actions (specifically aerospace trends in China/Russia/Iran) and draft executive summaries for leadership.
  • Recordkeeping: Maintain rigorous audit trails for all classifications, licenses, and shipments in accordance with U.S. Government regulations.
Training & Logistics:
  • Program Coordination: Manage the logistics for site-wide training sessions (HRBP, Procurement, Engineering), including scheduling, invitations, and attendance tracking.
  • Meeting Management: Set agendas for monthly compliance calls and record actionable minutes to drive project completion.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Authorized to work in the US, able to work in the U.S. without current or future need for visa sponsorship.
Qualified Experience and Training:
Education:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 additional years of experience in Aerospace/Defense.
Experience:

Required

  • Experience: 8 years of experience in export compliance, international logistics, or a paralegal role within a highly regulated industry (Aerospace/Defense preferred).

Regulatory Knowledge: Basic to intermediate understanding of the EAR.

Attributes: Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage high-volume administrative tasks with a high degree of accuracy.

Communication Skills:

  • Ability to read, write,speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to defend compliance values professionally when interacting with external vendors and internal stakeholders.
Technical Systems Proficiency:

Required:

  • Proficiency with OCR or similar GTM software, ACE/AES, and SNAP-R. High proficiency in Google Workspace (Sheets, Sites, Drive).
Level of Decision Making:
  • This role must be able to make operational, tactical& strategic decisions that impact the trade controls compliance of each transaction.

Physical Requirements:
  • 100% Onsite in Glendale, Arizona - No Hybrid or Remote opportunity
  • Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports, and engineering drawings. Daily

  • Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.   • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Minimally
  • Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Minimally
  • Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. Minimally
  • Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer. Daily
  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
  • Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor. Regularly.
  • Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice. Very minimal amount if at all
  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
  • Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site.
  • Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
