Job summary

Eastern Research Group is seeking a Quality Assurance/Safety Specialist to support explosives safety, occupational safety and health (OSH), and quality assurance activities within explosives/energetics processing and decontamination environments. This role will be based at NSF Indian Head, MD, and will conduct hazard analyses, evaluate MPPEH, and ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of explosives safety experience.
• 5+ years as an explosives safety and OSH officer.
• Training in 29 CFR 1910 General Industry standards.
• Training in 29 CFR 1926 Construction standards.
• Gas Free Engineering certification.
• Respirator fit testing qualification.
• State-certified Asbestos supervisor certification.
• DOT Explosive Handler physical certification.
• MPPEH Training per NAVSEA OP-5.
• HAZWOPER (40-hour)
• Military Munitions Rule and Naval Explosives Safety (AMMO-49-DL or AMMO-18-DL).
• Must hold or obtain DoD Secret-level security clearance.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and oversee safety-related aspects of explosives/energetics decontamination.
• Conduct hazard analyses for energetics operations.
• Assess and document MPPEH safety status.
• Maintain and apply OSH and Explosives Safety training beyond required experience.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols and explosives safety requirements.
• Support safety and quality assurance activities for explosives/energetics operations.
• Review operations to identify hazards and ensure controls are implemented.
