Job summary

Lumen is seeking an External Event Marketing Manager to lead end-to-end execution of Tier 1 and Tier 2 third‑party events, aligning programs with business objectives and budget. You will partner with Sales, Product Marketing, Communications, Brand, IT, and agency teams to deliver measurable results.

You’ll manage planning documents, staffing, vendor relationships, onsite production, and post‑event reporting, thriving under pressure and driving attendee engagement across high‑impact programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience or Master’s degree with 6+ years.
• 5+ years executing large-scale third-party events, conferences, or experiential programs.
• Experience supporting major industry events (AWS re:Invent, Ignite, Cisco Live, etc.).
• Proven ability to manage multiple complex event workstreams with attention to detail.
• Experience planning staffing, run-of-show documents, and production timelines.
• Experience managing event agencies, vendors, and venue relationships.
• Experience leading onsite event operations in high-pressure environments.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25-40%.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end execution for Tier 1 and Tier 2 third-party events on time and on budget.
• Support strategy lead in executing portfolio plans across key industry programs.
• Own planning docs, timelines, run-of-shows, staffing, and execution workstreams.
• Serve as primary contact for agencies, vendors, venues, and production partners.
• Lead onsite event execution, logistics, staffing, issue resolution, and operations.
• Develop staffing plans and ensure resources are deployed before, during, and after events.
• Produce ancillary events such as dinners, roundtables, receptions and partner engagements.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to drive seamless execution and experiences.
• Create scalable processes, templates, and tools to improve efficiency.
• Manage budgets, timelines, and vendor deliverables; align with brand standards.
• Track results and contribute to post-event reporting and insights.
• Identify opportunities to enhance attendee engagement and activations.
