Job summary

GA Group, a leading advisory and valuation firm, seeks Senior Field Examiners to support asset-based lending engagements from hybrid offices in Chicago, IL and other locations. Ideal candidates have a CPA/CFA helpful, 4+ years of field examination experience, and strong financial analysis and communication skills.

Responsibilities include leading project teams, conducting collateral analysis (A/R and Inventory), and preparing exam reports, while traveling up to 35% and collaborating with banks

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or economics.
  • CPA or CFA beneficial, but not required.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience as a field examiner in a similarly situated role/firm.
  • Advanced knowledge of Income Statements, Balance Sheets and relevant accounting concepts.
  • Detail-oriented, able to effectively manage time, strong planning skills, and excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to perform site visits as needed; travel up to 35%.

  • Prepares field examination reports and supporting work papers with findings, variances, conclusions and mitigants.
  • Leads management interviews at subject companies to gain insight into financial, collateral and operational management.
  • Sets priorities for themselves and field exam team while managing multiple deadlines.
  • Builds and maintains relationships and communication with subject companies and clients throughout the field exam process.
  • Ensures internal communication within the exam team is effective and up to date.
  • Reviews analysis and reports to ensure adherence to GA Group quality standards and policies.

POSITION SCOPE

Our Field Examination team consists of seasoned professionals in banking, accounting and business services, and assists banks, private equity firms, hedge funds and factors in successfully structuring asset-based loans. Our experienced team has completed assignments in almost every industry and company life-cycle, both domestic and international. We have advised clients on unusual collateral types and executed transaction-specific diligence.

We are looking to hire Senior Field Examiners to work in one of our hybrid offices in Chicago, IL, Los Angeles, CA, NY, NY or Needham, MA. This position manages the analysis of existing and prospective borrower's collateral records and financial reports to assess collateral values that support asset-based loans. The candidate will lead recurring engagements and over time may lead new engagements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Manages and directs a project team providing in-depth testing and analysis of collateral (generally Accounts Receivable and Inventory) securing loans to potential/existing borrowers to verify existence, and to identify and highlight areas of collateral weakness or deterioration. As necessary, complete any aspect of the field exam to bring the engagement to a timely and successful conclusion
  • Prepares field examination reports and supporting work papers that communicate in writing findings and material variances found, conclusions reached, and recommendations on potential mitigants.
  • Leads management interviews at the subject companies, gaining insight into their financial, collateral, and operational management
  • Effectively sets priorities for themselves and field exam team members and works in an organized manner while managing multiple moving deadlines
  • Builds, maintains, and manages effective relationships and communication with subject companies and clients throughout the field exam process
  • Ensures internal communication and coordination within the exam team is effective and consistent throughout the process, keeping all members up to date
  • Conduct interviews of potential new hires, participates in the candidate selection process and training
  • Review analysis and reports to ensure adherence to GA Group quality standards and policies
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or economics. CPA or CFA beneficial, but not required
  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience as a field examiner in a similarly situated role/firm
