Job description

Your Opportunity

As a company, we were established by Chuckover 40 years ago to champion Main Street over Wall Street, and to help Americans transform themselves from earners to owners. We believe that, when done right, investing liberates people to create their own destiny. We are driven by our purpose to champion every client’s goals with passion and integrity. We respect and appreciate the diversity of our employees, our clients, and the communities we serve. We challenge conventions strategically to create value for our clients, our firm and the world. We live and bring to life the concept of ‘own your tomorrow’ every day. We champion our employee strengths, guide their development, and invest in their long-term success. We hire optimistic, results-oriented, curious, innovative, and adaptable people with the desire to help our clients and one another succeed.

Your Opportunity

Event and Production Services (EPS) designs and delivers events and multimedia productions that attract, engage and retain clients and employees. We take pride in creating memorable experiences that differentiate the Schwab brand. The Retail Regional Events team is a team of five within EPS who develops and executes regional event portfolios with the primary goal of helping the Branch Network retain and deepen client relationships in addition to creating opportunities to drive business growth.

The Senior Event Manager is responsible for approximately 60 single day events ranging in size from 10 to 300 participants supporting Schwab’s comprehensive wealth management offerings within the Investor Services organization. In this role you will design and plan high-touch meetings and events for the Branch Network and partner with internal business partners to ensure the event portfolio and client experience align and support business objectives and firm priorities. Events will range from highly customized experiential events to turnkey ticketed events. You will support several major markets around the country and travel will be expected for in-person events. Primary markets will likely be in the Eastern time zone but are subject to change. East coast working hours will be expected.

What you are good at
  • Setting the bar high. You have a proven track record of creating top-echelon experiential, modern, and distinct in-person and virtual event experiences. You deliver events of the highest quality with a superior level of customer service.
  • Knowing your audience. You take the time to get to know your partners and understand their needs to create individualized, curated event portfolios.
  • You lead with warmth and have a genuine curiosity to listen and collaborate.
  • Having a perspective. You enjoy contributing to conversations and problem solving in a team environment.
  • Earning trust. You display vulnerability and put your trust in others, but also build deep relationships through accountability and follow through.
  • Taking action. You’re proactive, results oriented, and self-motivated. You have the tenacity to overcome obstacles and setbacks, even with limited direction.
  • You are well-spoken, a grammar stickler, and are comfortable developing approachable copy for event-related pieces such as invitations, follow-up communications and more.
  • Operating efficiently. You can identify opportunities for scale and strike a balance between customization and turnkey experiences. You’re able to manage detailed budgets and stay within quarterly budget parameters.
  • Leading by example. You build followership through your words and actions.
What you have
  • At least eight years of experience in event planning and execution, with growing levels of responsibility and accountability.
  • A strategic mindset with strengths in holistically driving, influencing and effectively delivering on the established event strategy.
  • A strong understanding of how to plan and orchestrate successful and engaging events with an eye for sophistication and finesse in event design and decor.
  • An innovative and forward-thinking mind, with a keen eye for detail, and a focus on crafting unique and personalized event experiences.
  • Experience developing and creating high touch, highly experiential events for clients, employees, and/or executives, ideally with previous corporate experience.
  • Breadth of experience in client hospitality, such as premium sporting events, celebrity chef experiences, art-based events and more. Experience hosting educational programs and working with authorities in the financial services industry is also preferred. Work samples that show a range of event types, budgets, and formats are appreciated.
  • Solid contracting skills with venues, caterers, decor and lighting companies, DMCs, etc.
  • Strong fiscal approach with excellent budget management and forecasting skills.
  • Experience coordinating registration, complex housing management and air and ground travel arrangements (preferred but not required).
  • Outstanding project management and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communications skills.
  • An innovative and forward-thinking mind that enables you to think “big picture” and connect the dots beyond the scope of your work.
  • The ability to be flexible, adaptable, and comfortable with ambiguity while course correcting based on evolving decisions and circumstances.
  • Extensive PC skills and in-depth experience with Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency with event-related technology such as Cvent and Salesforce.
