Job summary

Deacon Construction seeks a Senior Estimator in Washington to lead full-cycle cost estimating for commercial, multifamily, hospitality, healthcare, and more. You will mentor junior staff and coordinate with preconstruction, PM, and operations to ensure accurate bids and competitive proposals.

The role emphasizes leadership, accuracy, and accountability, with bid ownership from start to finish and representation of the company's numbers to clients and leadership.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of commercial construction estimating experience with leading estimates
• Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, cost estimating, and bid processes
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and MS Project

Responsibilities

• Lead full cycle estimating from conceptual budgets to final bid submission across markets
• Develop detailed quantity takeoffs, cost analyses, and scope breakdowns
• Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and vendor bids and build relationships
• Partner with preconstruction, project management, and operations to align estimates with scope, schedule, and risk
• Prepare and present estimates, proposals, and bid packages to clients and leadership
• Track market pricing trends and maintain historical cost data for future estimates
• Mentor and support less experienced estimators on the team
• Participate in bid strategy discussions and bid decisions
