Job summary

J. Benton Construction, LLC is seeking an experienced Estimator to manage complex, large-scale projects from conceptual estimates through final bids.

You will review drawings, perform quantity take-offs, develop budgets, and coordinate with clients and subcontractors. The role requires at least 5 years in construction estimating, a relevant degree, proficiency in estimating software and Excel, and a strong eye for detail, risk assessment, and value engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction estimating.
• Proficiency in estimating software and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry practices.
• Working knowledge of applicable building codes, regulations, and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage the estimating process to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with client expectations.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, designers, and subcontractors.
• Review drawings, specifications, and related documents to develop accurate cost, labor, and time estimates.
• Perform quantity take-offs and apply unit pricing to establish project values.
• Analyze project scope, identify risks, and develop value engineering solutions.
• Prepare assumptions, qualifications, cost comparisons, and reconciliations.
• Coordinate subcontractor solicitation, evaluation, and selection.
• Develop budgets, GMPs, scope sheets (Exhibit B), and final estimates.
• Ensure quality control and consistency across all bids and estimates.
• Collaborate with internal teams and communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
• Support business development efforts, including presentations and interviews.
