Job summary

NorthStar Energy Services, a Quanta Services, Inc. company, is seeking a Senior Estimator to join our Channelview, TX office.

You will develop accurate cost estimates for industrial projects in the Oil & Gas midstream/downstream sectors, emphasizing mechanical and piping scopes along with civil and structural work. You will review drawings, perform takeoffs, and price labor, materials, and equipment using Trimble Accubid and Excel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field; or 10 years’ experience in lieu of degree.
• 10+ years estimating experience in industrial construction with piping/mechanical focus.
• Experience estimating midstream/downstream Oil & Gas projects (terminals, plants, pipelines).
• Strong knowledge of civil/structural methods and cost drivers.
• Proficiency with Trimble Accubid and Excel required.
• Ability to read P&IDs, isometrics, civil drawings, and structural plans.
• Experience supporting EPC or design-build delivery; minimal travel for pre-bid site visits.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil, structural, and mechanical scopes with focus on piping and mechanical systems.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop pricing for labor, material, and equipment using Accubid and Excel.
• Review drawings/specs/scope documents for accuracy and completeness.
• Collaborate with project management, engineering, and construction teams on assumptions and strategies.
• Develop pricing for lump sum, unit rate, and time-and-materials proposals.
• Develop construction schedules in Microsoft Project.
• Analyze subcontractor and vendor quotes for alignment with scope and standards.
• Identify risks, exclusions, and value-engineering opportunities; support bid reviews and handoffs.
