This is an opportunity for an experienced estimator who knows the industrial insulation market, understands how to build competitive estimates, and can leverage industry relationships to help grow the business.

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator with a strong background in industrial insulation to lead estimating efforts for large-scale industrial projects.

This is a senior-level, hands-on estimating role responsible for developing accurate and competitive estimates, reviewing project requirements, participating in job walks, and working closely with customers, operations, and project management.

The ideal candidate will also bring established industry relationships and the ability to identify new opportunities. While formal business development experience is not required, the ability to build relationships, understand the market, and help generate new business is an important part of the role.

The successful candidate will have the technical expertise to independently estimate projects typically ranging from $500K to $3M+ and the confidence to work directly with customers, contractors, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the estimating process for large-scale industrial insulation projects.
• Review plans, specifications, drawings, scopes of work, and bid requirements.
• Develop detailed estimates for labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and other project costs.
• Prepare accurate and competitive bids while identifying project risks, assumptions, exclusions, and opportunities.
• Participate in customer meetings, pre-bid meetings, job walks, and site visits.
• Work closely with operations and project management to ensure estimates are practical and aligned with field execution.
• Manage multiple estimates and bid deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Develop and maintain relationships with customers, general contractors, owners, engineering firms, and industry contacts.
• Leverage existing industry relationships to identify upcoming projects and new business opportunities.
• Stay informed on market activity, customer needs, and upcoming industrial projects.
• Represent D2 professionally with customers and industry partners.
• Partner with leadership and operations to pursue strategic projects and expand D2's presence in additional markets.
• Support estimating for related industrial services, including scaffolding and abatement, when appropriate.
• Assist in the development and mentoring of less-experienced estimators.
• Support the transition of awarded projects from estimating to operations.

Here's what you'll need to have;

• We are looking for a senior level estimator demonstrated experience estimating industrial insulation projects.
• Proven ability to independently estimate large-scale projects, ideally $500K–$3M+.
• Willingness to travel for job walks, customer meetings, and project opportunities.

Ideally you'll have;

• Industrial insulation or mechanical insulation.
• Scaffolding, abatement, coatings, or other specialty industrial services.
• Established relationships with industrial customers, contractors, owners, or industry partners.
• Experience working across multiple geographic markets.
• Business development or customer relationship management experience.
• Field or craft experience within the industrial construction environment.

This is first and foremost an estimating position. We are not looking for a traditional salesperson who cannot estimate. The priority is finding someone with the technical estimating expertise to successfully pursue large industrial insulation projects. Industry relationships and business development capability are a significant plus.

Location:

Northern California preferred. If you have strong ties to other locations we will consider other options and be flexible with a work arrangements for the right candidate.

Travel will be required for job walks, customer meetings, project opportunities, and other business needs. Initial in-person time may be required for onboarding, training, and integration with the team.
