Job summary

Strata Civil is seeking a Senior Estimator – Heavy Highway & Wet Utility for full-time on-site roles in Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston, TX. Prepare detailed estimates for heavy highway and underground wet utility projects, including takeoffs, pricing, and cost analysis, in collaboration with PM and operations teams.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of estimating experience on large civil projects, strong analytical and communication skills, and proficiency with tools like HCSS HeavyBid, Excel,

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of estimating experience in large heavy/highway construction projects.
• Experience with all phases of construction including structures, bridges, underground, earthwork, and concrete paving.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field preferred.
• Previous field operations experience is a plus.
• Strong analytical, prioritization, and organizational skills; detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Excel and Word.
• Experience with Hard Dollar and Primavera P6 is strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of Terra Model, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and HCSS (Heavy Bid) is a plus.
• Flexibility and willingness to relocate for assigned projects as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for heavy highway and underground wet utility projects.
• Perform quantity takeoffs, pricing, and cost analysis.
• Review project plans and specifications and solicit subcontractor and vendor quotes.
• Develop complete bid packages with project management and operations teams.
• Participate in bid strategy meetings and assess project risks.
• Support post-bid reviews and budget development for awarded projects.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating tools, processes, and databases.
