Job summary

Essenti Talent in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Senior Estimator for heavy civil highway and bridge projects, focusing on NCDOT lettings. You will own estimates from takeoff through bid day and mentor junior estimators.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years in heavy civil estimating, DOT bid experience, strong takeoff and pricing skills, and are based in the Triangle or willing to relocate to Raleigh.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in heavy civil estimating with lead experience on DOT bids.
• Experience on highway, bridge, earthwork, paving and drainage estimates.
• Strong takeoff and production-based pricing skills.
• Contractor-side estimating, not design-side cost estimating.

Responsibilities

• Lead estimates on heavy civil highway and bridge bids from takeoff through bid day
• Perform quantity takeoffs from plans and specifications
• Build crew, equipment and production based cost estimates
• Solicit, level and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes
• Develop bid strategy, risk review and pricing with leadership
• Attend prebid meetings and site visits
• Track NCDOT lettings and build the bid schedule
• Mentor junior estimators and keep the estimating database current
• Hand awarded work to the project team with a clean budget
• Review bid results and carry the lessons into the next estimate

A large, well established heavy civil contractor is hiring a Senior Estimator to lead bids on highway and bridge work in the Raleigh area. This is a strong opportunity for a Senior or Lead Estimator with DOT heavy civil bid experience who wants a stable employer with a deep backlog and a real voice on bid day. You'll own estimates from takeoff through bid day on highway, bridge and infrastructure projects, much of it NCDOT work. Triangle locals are great, and candidates ready to relocate are welcome.
