Job summary

IEW Construction Group in Hamilton, NJ seeks an Experienced Estimator for heavy civil projects. You will prepare detailed cost estimates for bridges, highways and infrastructure, coordinate with operations and field teams, and help deliver competitive bids on time.

Ideal candidates have public-sector estimating experience, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with estimating software. A civil engineering or related degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil, highway, or bridge projects.
• Experience estimating large public construction projects with NJDOT or similar agencies desirable.
• Knowledge of roadway/bridge construction, rehabilitation, concrete, excavation, utilities.
• Ability to interpret plans and perform takeoffs to develop comprehensive estimates.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, or Viewpoint/Vista is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates from bid review through final submission, including all costs.
• Review plans and contract documents, perform quantity takeoffs, identify risks and opportunities.
• Develop production rates and approaches based on costs and field experience.
• Solicit supplier and subcontractor pricing and ensure scope coverage.
• Coordinate with operations on bid strategy and turnover.
• Maintain estimating files and assist with change-order pricing.
• Ensure compliance with prevailing wage, bonding, insurance, and public agency bid requirements.
