About Our Client

For nearly 100 years, our client has been a trusted Milwaukee-area builder, delivering more than $100 million in annual construction volume across industrial, commercial, multifamily, healthcare, and specialty projects. As a privately held, locally owned general contractor with in-house carpentry and concrete capabilities, this company is known for its strong reputation, entrepreneurial mindset, and family-oriented culture where employees build long-term careers, leadership is accessible, and quality relationships drive success.

Job Description
  • Prepare detailed conceptual, schematic, design development, and hard bid estimates for commercial, industrial, multifamily, healthcare, and specialty construction projects.
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and contract documents to develop accurate labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates.
  • Lead the bid process by soliciting, reviewing, and leveling subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure complete scope coverage.
  • Identify project risks, opportunities, value engineering options, and constructability considerations during preconstruction.
  • Collaborate with project managers, field operations, architects, engineers, and owners to align project budgets, schedules, and execution plans.
  • Develop and maintain conceptual budgets, cost models, and GMP proposals throughout the preconstruction process.
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations, helping build relationships and support business development efforts.
  • Negotiate pricing with subcontractors and vendors to maximize competitiveness while maintaining project quality standards.
  • Track market trends, labor availability, and material pricing to ensure estimates reflect current market conditions.
  • Support project teams through contract review, scope clarification, change order pricing, and cost analysis during project execution.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior estimators, contributing to the continued growth of the estimating team.
  • Play a key leadership role within the department, with the opportunity to progress into the Chief Estimator position as part of the company's succession plan.
