Job summary

Flow Control Group is seeking an Estimator to join our Houston team. You will translate customer needs into accurate, competitive technical bids across multiple brands, coordinating with engineering, sales, and vendors to size equipment and assemble robust cost estimates.

You will craft comprehensive technical proposals, manage front-end bidding, and ensure smooth hand-offs to project management. The role requires 5+ years in technical estimating in industrial flow control and strong

Qualifications

• 5+ years in technical estimating or inside sales within industrial flow control.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Ability to read P&IDs and engineering drawings.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain in-depth knowledge of all Flow Control Group brands, products, and technologies to identify cross-brand bidding opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to obtain pricing and lead times.
• Evaluate RFQ packages, review specifications, and align bidding strategies for high-value accounts.
• Lead hand-off meetings to transfer won bids to Project Management with clear scope and cost assumptions.
• Review customer drawings, datasheets, and specs to ensure compliance with standards.
• Size and select flow control equipment to meet application parameters.
• Develop detailed cost estimates including equipment, engineering, labor, testing, packaging, and freight.
• Draft clear technical and commercial proposals outlining scope, deviations, and terms.
• Apply pricing strategies to protect margins while remaining competitive.
• Identify risks in RFQs and add contingency costs as needed.
