Job summary

Harrison Western in Lakewood, Colorado, seeks a Senior Estimator and Design Engineer to lead estimates, designs, and proposals for mining, tunneling, and geotechnical projects. The role collaborates with operations, business development, and leadership to deliver high-quality bids and technical proposals.

The candidate should have PE licensure, a minimum of five years in construction estimating or related fields, and strong proficiency in estimating software and AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining, Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent in industry.
• PE Licensure required.
• Five years of construction operations experience, estimating or similar role.
• Experience in fast-paced environments and geotechnical analyses.
• Proficiency with estimating methods and software: B2W, OST, Bluebeam, Google Earth, MS Office.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and development of drawings.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Determine, develop and execute estimating processes, strategies, technologies, plans and procedures.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients.
• Prepare bid proposals and estimates by accurately taking off project scope.
• Review design options and recommend cost-effective solutions.
• Analyze drawings, designs, specifications to prepare schedules, methods, cost estimates and proposals.
• Maintain detailed tracking of bids and historical data.
• Assist with determining production rates, crews and fleet for estimates.
• Lead internal bid reviews and finalize executive presentations.
• Participate in bid presentations and submittals.
• Support marketing and business development efforts.
• Implement department standards and coordinate with leadership to leverage data.
• Manage project handoff and post-completion debriefs with operations.
