McGuire and Hester in Northern California seeks a Senior Estimator – Concrete to prepare cost estimates for materials, labor, and fees for bids on site work projects. You will analyze plans and specs, perform takeoffs, and develop competitive proposals with PM input.
Responsibilities include coordinating a bid team, mentoring peers, and ensuring safe, accurate estimates. A BS in an engineering-related field and a strong estimating background are essential for success in this role.

The Senior Estimator – Concrete, prepares cost estimates and writes proposals for all materials, labor, miscellaneous costs and fees necessary in putting together responsible project bids.

undergraduate degree in civil engineering and/or construction management and ten or more years of successful progressive responsible estimating experience with emphasis in the discipline of work assigned; in absence of four-year degree, the equivalent in education and experience combined
must be able to read and write in English; bilingual in Spanish is helpful but not required
basic business math and the ability to create and understand budgets and schedules; geometry, algebra, and physics necessary for calculating volume, area, and tonnage
this position requires self-motivation, strong planning, organizing, and time management skills, the ability to create and follow a schedule and multiple activities
must have strong problem-solving skills, analytical skills, and reading comprehension and be able to deal with both standardized and non-standard situations and many variables
must be fluent in Microsoft Office Suite. Individuals in this position with also need to be able to learn to use new technologies as the evolve or are implemented
the ability to interface and collaborate with a wide variety of people including clients, employees, managers, agencies, and the public; strong leadership skills
valid Driver’s license with an acceptable record
