Job summary

MAC Construction is seeking an experienced Estimator to lead the estimating and bidding process for commercial construction projects in the Columbus region. You will review drawings, specifications, and RFPs, develop detailed cost estimates, and coordinate with subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and accurate budgets.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or an associate degree in Construction Management or related field preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in commercial construction estimating.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, estimating practices, and project costs.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
• Experience with Procore or comparable estimating software, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Manage the estimating and bidding process for assigned projects from RFP intake through award and handoff.
• Review drawings, specs, and RFPs to identify scope, requirements, and challenges.
• Develop detailed, competitive cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
• Create bid strategies, schedules, and milestones with the Preconstruction Manager.
• Set up bid projects in Procore and manage bid packages and subcontractor invitations.
• Develop detailed scopes of work and distribute bid packages to subs and suppliers.
• Solicit, track, evaluate, and qualify subcontractor and vendor proposals.
• Lead bid RFIs, clarifications, and revisions with timely communications.
• Perform bid leveling and provide subcontractor recommendations to PM team.
• Maintain historical cost data to support estimates and budgets.
